LA LATTERIA WORLD AT GLANCE
What makes La Latteria different?
La Latteria was created in 2015 to offer genuine and high quality artisanal Italian cheeses, produced in London, while remaining true to their Italian origins, by guaranteeing that the most traditional Italian recipes and artisans are brought here to re-create a piece of Italy in the hearth of London. La Latteria is committed to offer made-to-order products, delivered daily to customers’ door step.
Where is our milk coming from?
La Latteria is highly committed to support British farmers. In fact, our milk is sourced from few hand-picked trusted British farmers who share our same principles and priorities on food safety and animal welfare. All our farmers comply with the Red Tractor Assured Dairy Scheme.
Do we make “Mozzarella”?
Mozzarella is the correct name for cheese produced from buffalo milk. La Latteria produces fresh cheeses from cows milk, and despite nowadays the word “mozzarella” is commonly used also to identify products form cows’ milk, the correct denomination for the latter is Fior di Latte.
While our Fior di Latte range is produced locally, with British milk, we will be sourcing buffalo milk products, such as Mozzarella di Bufala Campana, from very few selected producers from the relevant Italian regions.
We use few very simple ingredients, but we strive to find the best quality ingredients! We use milk from Fresian-Holstain cows, salt shipped from Italy and the best quality animal rennet. Unfortunately, the traditional way of making our products requires animal rennet, and despite the very small quantities used, this ingredient will make our cheeses not suitable for vegetarians.
Also, we will do our best to tell you about the particular ingredients of our cheeses and we’ll try to ensure that our labels accurately reflect that. However, if you have any doubts or just want to check, don’t hesitate to contact us.
What is the shelf life for our products?
We proud ourselves for not using any type of additive, except natural ones, such as salt. Therefore, the shelf-life of our products is relatively short and we provide clear indication on our labels. In specific: - Fior di latte: 5 days - Burrata and stracciatella: 4 days - Ricotta: 6 days - Rollatine: 5 days - Scamorze: 10 days. Nonetheless, in line with our philosophy of production to consumption within hours, we produce every day, when the city is still fast asleep. So please bear with us if, at times, there may be few delays in deliveries. Human work is behind every bit of what we do!
How should our products be stored?
To enjoy our Fior di Latte at its best, the product should be eaten at room temperature. Our artisans strongly recommend keeping our Fior Di Latte out of the fridge on the day of production and ensure they are, eventually, refrigerated only at the end of that day, if not consumed. Please always ensure they are kept in water, to avoid the product drying out. For following days consumption, please ensure you take them out of your fridge 30 minutes before consumption. All other products should be refrigerated as early as possible.

We will do our best to help
How will my products stay fresh in transit?
For our deliveries we normally use motorbikes, for which we have devised a simple, yet very efficient temperature control solution. We worked with Thermafreeze, a food-safe dry gel ice pack alternative, to identify the best solution for our container boxes.
Our products will be normally packaged and then inserted in hermetically closed plastic containers surrounded by Thermafreeze ice packs. These contain tiny gel beads that are able to soak up large amounts of water and expand when doing so; enabling them to hold that water in a solid, frozen state for long periods of time. This ensure that the temperature is maintained below 6C.
How are the products packaged?
Our fresh cheeses are prepared to order by our cheese maker on the day of your delivery and they are extremely delicate, especially right after production. Like production, they are manually packaged with the upmost care. We have tried several ways to package them in a format that would minimize fluids leakage or them being damaged during delivery. We are currently using what we think is the best balance between effectiveness and convenience. But we cannot guarantee unexpected inconveniences. We apologize in advance for any shortcoming of our packaging as we continue to working on improving it and finding the optimal solution.
Can I pay in cash?
We are very sorry, but in order to streamline our operations and for the security of our drivers, we only accept payment by credit card or Paypal via the internet.
How can I pay for my order?
Your options are pretty straight forward, card payment or through Paypal. The cards we accept are MasterCard, Maestro, Visa, and American Express.
Why do I have to enter my card details every time I shop?
Protecting your privacy and the safety of your transactions is one of our main priorities, which is why we work with two of the best names in online credit card processing and security. We do not currently store your credit card.
Where is my invoice?
You invoice is sent to you via email when your order is dispatched. Please be sure to check your junk mail but if for some reason you do not receive your invoice, please contact us on email@example.com and we will be happy to provide a copy.
RETURNS AND REFUNDS
Why can't I return food products?
To protect our customers and for reasons of hygiene the right of cancellation is available only for products that can be resold without giving rise to potential consumer health risks. Following this logic, unfortunately we are unable to accept returns of our products, since we are unable to guarantee that the products have been preserved adequately.
However, please do contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org should you have any issue with your delivery and we will do our best to solve the issue.
